A women’s wrestling champion has had to assure fans she is alive and well after being declared the victim of a murder.
Nisha Dahiya, 23, from India, who just days ago won bronze at the Under-23 world championships in Serbia, posted a video on Instagram to announce that she was ‘absolutely fine’.
After the assassination of the trainee wrestler of the same name from Haryana, she was reported to have been killed in India.

The victim’s brother was also killed, local media reported.
Several outlets had declared the victim’s namesake dead before she posted on Instagram.
‘Obviously everybody is happy to realise that I am alive. I am preparing for the tournament now,’ the former national champion told Press Trust of India.
Haryana has been a traditional powerhouse for India’s top-flight wrestlers – particularly women athletes – but the sport has been plagued by several instances of violence off the mat.
Sushil Kumar was a state-issued Olympic medallist who was jailed in May on murder and kidnapping charges for the death of a youth wrestler in a Delhi stadium.
In February, another Haryana coach was charged with threatening harassment and allegedly shot five people to death.
Dahiya, a former trainee wrestler of the same name from the north state of Haryana was shot to death in India.
