Ben Goldsmith said he was ‘working very hard’ to create an ‘Iris Project in memory of his daughter, who tragically died from a quadbike accident at the farm. 

Ben, 41-year old, lives with Jemima, his children Eliza (4 years), Arlo (3 years), and Vita Iris (three). They live on their Somerset family farm. Twitter and shared a heartwarming selfie with his late daughter Iris, who was just 15 when she lost her life in a buggy accident.

He shared the touching snap with an emoji of a broken heart and wrote: “28 months, my heart hurts.”

He added: ‘Working hard on an *Iris Project*. It will aim to find and support young environmental heroes from all over the globe, especially those living in rural and marginalised communities. It’s a kind of green Nobel Prize. We will soon report.

Iris was one of three children from Ben’s first marriage, to banking heiress Kate Rothschild. Frank (15 years old) and Isaac (12 years).

Iris was riding an all-terrain buggy, similar to a quad bike, around the family’s farm in North Brewham, Somerset, on July 8 2019 when it overturned. It was her friend, who raised the alarm immediately but could not save her.

Before the birth of his son Ben, named after his daughter, told The Telegraph that he was’missing Iris’ more than ever and had been ‘crying quite a lot’, wishing he could get his ‘kind’, brilliant, and beautiful girl back.

On the 24th of March, Ben spoke at the farm and said that despite all the suffering in the world, he found the coronavirus epidemic a time of spiritual healing. 

According to him, life can be hectic with children, work, and young kids. He explained that an unexpected break from all of this has allowed for reflection and connection to one’s inner self, and allowed emotions to surface.

He went on to reveal how he’d been ‘crying a lot’ about the loss of his daughter, saying: ‘I’ve found myself missing my Iris more than ever in recent weeks. I’ve cried a lot. 

‘Maybe that’s been helpful. I don’t know. “I just wish that my beautiful, bright, and kind girl would come back to me. 

Ben was born to late billionaire Sir James Goldsmith. Ben is younger brother to Environment Minister Lord Zac Goldsmith as well as television producer Jemima Goldsmith.

It was revealed in April last year that Ben had welcomed a baby girl with his wife Jemima, nine months after the tragic death of his teenage daughter. 

Vita, the couple’s third child together, left hospital after a fortnight in the ICU, aunt Jemima Goldsmith announced on Instagram on Friday.

Sharing photos of brother Ben and sister-in-law Jemima with her newborn niece, the socialite wrote: ‘Welcome home, Vita Iris Goldsmith- my perfect little niece who left hospital today after a terrifying two weeks in the ICU & thanks to the brilliant doctors and nurses, a miraculous recovery.
