The Sun reports that intelligence experts now attempt to determine whether Abu Rayana’s tribute links him to an execution on British soil.
The newspaper reported that he had traveled to Yemen “for terror training”.
The newsletter al-Naba of the group claims that Abu Rayana was involved with gangs during his youth and has had criminal convictions.
An obituary by the terror group stated that he was an important figure within Islamic State. He had been in prison in the UK and turned his back to gang life.
IS claims that he was also able to return to Britain to help a “disciple” who had ‘killed one the major men harming Muslims in Britain’.

IS stated that Abu Rayana was Yunis, and that he was still in his 30s.
He did not give any additional details regarding his identity to the terror group.
