MyLondon reports that Mr Bailey gave in to the pressure after being subject to intense requests for his resignation over the past week.

Downing Street employees joined the party. They danced into the wee hours, in spite of London’s Tier 2 ban on indoor socializing at that time.

Reports say that four of Bailey’s employees were disciplined for their actions at the event.

Mr Bailey's Labour opponents on the London Assembly insist he still has questions to answer over the party last December

Labour opposition to Mr Bailey at the London Assembly say he still has many questions about the party’s actions last December.

“He doesn’t want an unauthorised social event involving former members of London’s mayoral campaign team in December distracting from the important work of holding the Mayor accountable.

“He will speak out for Londoners that don’t feel secure in the city, and advocate for a strategy for dealing with crime at disproportionate levels in London’s black communities.

Unmesh Dasai AM, Labour’s London Assembly police lead said that Bailey had to respond to questions from the Labour group.

Labour has asked for information on who went to the party and if Mr Bailey was given any gifts.
