One singleton claims she was allergic to lash extensions. She looked like she’d done ‘ten rounds’ with Mike Tyson, ruining her birthday and leaving her worried about permanent damage to her eyes.
Jessica Shannon, 25, from Wetherby in West Yorkshire, stated that her Russian lashes looked stunning when she got them done last month, September 25, but that her eyes were ‘completely swelling’ two days later when she woke up after a night out.
She was terrified because her eyelids quickly became stuck together, itchy, and watery, and she soon ‘couldn’t see any other thing’.
The former carer for the elderly dashed to A&E where she was told she had corneal abrasion and ‘cried like a big baby’ when she later had the lashes removed – although said it was a big relief.
Jessica stated that her eyes were not fully normal until a week later. She hopes to raise awareness about the’severe and painful’ reactions that lash glue can cause.
Jessica Shannon, 25, from Wetherby in West Yorkshire said she was unable to see because of an allergic reaction to her Russian eyelashes (pictured before).
Jessica said, “I had been out for a birthday night and my left eye had become a little bloodshot, but it wasn’t sore or itchy.
“I came home, went to bed, and the next morning, I woke up looking like I’d done ten rounds of Mike Tyson.
“They were very sore and itchy. I had to get out of bed to see the mirror. My eyes were just extremely swollen. It was very painful.
“They were just itchy and streaming with water from then on. It was a disaster.
The elderly carer revealed that her eyes started swelling the day after her birthday celebrations. Her condition grew worse until she was forced to leave. Right, she cried with relief when her eyes were finally removed.
“Over the next few day because they were so sticky they’d stuck shut. So I’d wake up in morning with my eyes completely stuck together.
The beauty lover claimed she would have to bathe them to allow them to open slightly, but she couldn’t see anything despite this.
She first saw a pharmacist, who gave her some antihistamines and eye drops.
Jessica stated that the symptoms got worse over the next few days. I couldn’t see any more.
“They were both closed together and my eyes were blurry. I can only explain it by saying that there was a film on my eyes. It was terrifying.
“They were both bad, but my left was worse. It was so swollen, I couldn’t even open it.
“The main thing that was going through me was the fact that my vision was blurred. I was worried about my actual eyesight.
‘Which was one of the main reasons as well as the pain that prompted me to go to A&E just to double-check I wasn’t going to end up with permanent damage to my actual eyes.
“They said it was very serious and gave me an antibiotic eye ointment. I also had some cornea abrasions because of the way I’d been rubbing my eyes. I think I’d scratched my eyes.
The 25-year-old claimed that the lashes looked beautiful when she had them done. But then, she experienced a severe allergic reaction.
Jessica was unable to see for several hours and required an eye-patch to protect her cornea.
The 25-year old explained that her eyes looked ‘bloodshot” the day after her birthday celebrations. Her right eye started to swell.
After a night out, Jessica noticed her eyes getting more red and began to itch.
Jessica stated that her eyes looked like they had been beaten up by Myke. Jessica woke up the next day with two very swollen, painful eyes.
Jessica was prescribed antibiotic eye ointment by the doctor. She was told to keep using the medication she had purchased from the pharmacy.
Jessica stated: “Before they got really really bad, I wanted to push through the pain to keep them on. I like my lashes done and hoped that they’d settle down.
“I spent most of my time in bed. I always had my sunglasses and an eyepatch on my left side when I went out. [people she was with]We were linking my arm, making sure I didn’t walk into anything.

Jessica said that it was painful to have her lashes removed because her tears had ‘clumped together’ them.
“It took her about an hour and half to remove them. My eyes were watering constantly and it had made my eyelashes rock and hard and they’d clumped together.
“She had to go through each individual lash to separate the glue in order to get them off.
“It was a relief when they were completely removed, but it was really painful when she was doing it because my eyes were so dry that the glue was very hard on my lashes.
“I was crying like an infant.
The former carer was happy with her lashes before the reaction, right. They began to itch right after a while.
The 25-year-old said she paid £45 for the synthetic lashes but had them removed free of charge.
She claimed she had them done once before, but they were not fitted correctly and were stuck halfway down her eyelashes. Although she had a slight reaction, it was nothing compared to the recent ordeal.
Jessica said that although my top eyelids are still very dry and itchy, my sight has returned and I can now fully open my eyes. They are now much better than they were.
“They looked absolutely amazing when I first had them done.
“I’d love to have my lashes done once again, but I don’t know if it’s possible.
“Some people I know have had reactions to glue in the past. They’re able, a few months later, to wear lashes with no problems. However, for others it can take a while before they can wear extensions.

Jessica applied for an extension before her birthday and it was nothing extraordinary.
