Investigators investigate the possibility that a batch of illicit drugs with fentanyl may have been involved in the fatal concert surge at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival. It has now been revealed that numerous unconscious concertgoers were revived using the overdose-reversing drug, naloxone.

Eight people died, all between the ages of 14 and 24, and hundreds more were injured in the crowd on Friday in Houston, Texas, after a sizable group of the 50,000 in attendance pushed toward the stage at NRG Park as a timer clicked down to the start of the performance.

Police are still trying to determine whether any of the deaths occurred the surge or if other factors later came into play, such as accidental fatal overdoses, a source close to the investigation told the Wall Street Journal.

According to a source, there are many possible scenarios being investigated, such as malicious attacks or laced drugs. The outlet also noted that police have opened a criminal investigation into homicides and drug trafficking.

Dailymail.com tried to reach the Houston police Department, but was not able to get a response.

Troy Finner, Houston Police Chief, stated that at most one individual was involuntarily drowsed following the incident. A security guard experienced a pinched nerve in his neck, and subsequently fell asleep while trying to control another person.

“He was trying to hold or grab an elderly citizen when he felt a pinch in his neck. Narcan was administered to the unconscious man. Finner explained that the medical team revived him and found a “prick” similar to what you’d get when someone was injecting.

“I believe that everyone needs to respect the families and follow the facts. That’s exactly what the Houston Police Department is trying to achieve. One of those stories was, I believe, that somebody was injecting drugs into other people.

Finner spoke out about initial reports that an insane man was using a needle to inject people into the crowd. This led directly to the deaths and stampede. However, an off-duty nurse who fell to the ground and was then crowd-surfed onto the stage, refuted such claims.

“This is a fabrication. They are trying to hide their tracks. Nobody who actually was there has said this s**t. Nobody saw this s**t,’ Madeline Eskins wrote on social media.

One security guard hired to man the festival has since spoken out and said he dropped the gig because he felt ‘uncomfortable’ by the lack of preparation. Above is the job advertisement, which the source said required little experience

The festival’s security guard, who was hired by the company to manage the event, has spoken out. He said that he didn’t feel comfortable due to the insufficient preparation. Below is the job advert, according to which little preparation was required.

One of the festival’s security guards has spoken out, stating that he was unable to perform the job due to incompetence and lack of preparation.

Contemporary Services Corporation employed Darius Williams as a security guard for the festival.

TMZ was told by Williams that he got hired just days before the event. He also said that he’d only finished his training one day earlier. Williams explained that he and others had to sit for the licensing exam as a level-2 security officer. However, the tests were short and some of the questions were read aloud to the group by instructors.

Williams was disappointed to see that the staff were not adequately staffed for handling such a large number of people. He stated that he had raised his concerns to the supervisors.

Finner addressed the reports that Scott met with him and his head security officer before the concert to talk about his safety concerns. According to the Wall Street Journal’s Monday report, the police chief stated in a statement that social tension and COVID-19 had increased his anxiety and that Scott requested that Scott’s security team work with him.

Police chief Troy Finner (holding a press conference on Saturday), who knows Scott and felt that he had been trying to do good for his hometown, visited the musician in his trailer before the show on Friday. He told the megastar that he was concerned about 'the energy in the crowd,' a source told The New York Times

Troy Finner from the Police Department, who was holding a press conference in the morning on Saturday, met Scott at his trailer just before Friday’s show. He felt that Scott had done good things for the community and visited him there. A source said that Finner told the superstar that he was worried by the crowd’s energy.

Fire Chief Samuel Peña (pictured at Saturday's press conference) said that Scott and the organizers could have stepped in and paused the show. 'The one person who can really call for and get a tactical pause when something goes wrong is that performer. They have that bully pulpit and they have a responsibility,' Chief Peña said

Performers are the ones who are able to call for and obtain a tactical pause whenever something goes wrong. They have that bully pulpit and they have a responsibility,’ Chief Peña said

He added, “The meeting had been brief and polite and it was a good opportunity for me to voice my safety concerns.”

Although the show continued as scheduled, it was canceled 30 minutes early, half an hour later than planned. However, this happened after a “mass casualty” had been declared by fire departments.

Fire Chief Samuel Peña said Sunday that Scott and the organizers could have stepped in and paused the show.

The only one who is able to call for or get a tactical stop when there’s a problem is the performer. They have that bully pulpit and they have a responsibility,’ Chief Peña told the NYT.

‘If somebody would have said, ‘Hey, shut this thing down and turn on the lights until this thing gets corrected’ — and that coming from the person with the mic — I think could have been very helpful.’

The tragedy is being demanded by the family and friends of the victims and the many others who suffered injuries.

Friends and family of the dead and injured are demanding that the rapper be held accountable for the tragedy. Edgar Acosta (pictured above), whose son Axel was killed on Friday, held a press conference on Monday in Houston with an attorney, Tony Buzbee

The rapper must be held responsible for their tragedy, according to the family and friends of those who were hurt and killed. Edgar Acosta, whose son Axel died on Friday, was present at a Houston press conference with Tony Buzbee, an attorney.

Rachel (a woman who will only be identified as Rachel) was angry at Franco Patino’s death. Franco Patino was a 21 year old from Illinois studying at University of Dayton, Ohio.

Tweet: “My friend has been gone FOREVER for Astroworld.”

The anger over it is mad. Travis Scott must do so much more than a note-app apology.

Ana Lissa Marie (a friend) was devastated by the passing of Jacob Jurinek (21) – a childhood friend of Patino.

Jurinek was a Southern Illinois University student in art and media. He had traveled with Patino from Southern Illinois University to Houston for Jurinek’s Birthday.

She tweeted, “I have lost all respect for Travis Scott.”

“What occurred was completely disgusting. RIP all those that have lost their lives. Jacob Jurinek: You will be missed, kid. We are grateful for your laughter.

“My condolences go out to all of the families who have lost loved ones.”

What a scene of chaos and death at Travis Scott’s concert!

At around 2.15pmBefore the concert, surveillance video captured hundreds of people racing through gates at VIP security checkspoints and rushing past security.

One person sustained injuries in the afternoon scrum.

Houston Fire Chief Sam Pena admitted that he didn’t know what caused the rush, but stated that any extra precautions for this festival’s celebration ‘weren’t sufficient’.

According to The New York Times Police Chief Troy Finner met Travis Scott prior to his set in order to share ‘concerns over the energy among the crowd’.

Scott was scheduled to perform 9:00pmThe. His set was interrupted by a massive countdown timer that appeared on large screens 30 minutes in advance.

Madeline Eskins (ICU nurse) stated that as the clock drew nearer to zero, so did the crowd’s pressure.

CNN’s She said that people were “compressed up against one another and were pushing forward, and back,” she explained.

Just after 9pmScott took the stage in order to kick off his set that also featured a surprise appearance from Drake.

The crowd was already starting to fall asleep by the time the rapper entered on the stage.

At 9.30pmPena reported that the officials were first to report injuries.

At around 9.30pmAn ambulance arrived in the crowd and took 10 minutes to get to the patient.

Two men, who appeared to be Scott’s entourage, approach Scott onstage in video footage that has been removed.

Scott explained, “Y’all knew what you were going to do,” and then turned towards the crowd before the music began again.

He asked then the thousands of people in front to shake the ground.

At 9.38pmAccording to the chief of fire, there was a’mass causalty event’.

Scott insists that he wasn’t aware of the seriousness of what was occurring, however he stopped the show at least three times in order to request help for the people who were most affected.

At around 10.10pmThe performance was stopped.

Scott, and other companies involved in the organization of the festival have been brought to justice by others.

On Monday, Edgar Acosta and Texas attorney Tony Buzbee held a press conference to announce that he is suing for the death of Axel Acosta, his 21-year old son.

He said, “They must make these types of events change.”

“Today, it was me.

‘I lost my son. Acosta stated that it could have been him.

This is what happens when you let your child have fun. It’s not something I know how to explain. You have the right security.

“Because it’s not the first time he has participated in large events.

“You can have fun at Disneyland. A baseball game can be fun. Because of their security measures and because they employ the best people who can assist those in need.

“It is hard to explain.”

He stated that he was a wonderful kid who is an outstanding student. He wanted to go to school and study to become an engineer or a computer programmer.

Buzbee indicated that his firm was filing suit for 35 plaintiffs, Acosta included.

Buzbee stated that neither Travis Scott, nor his entourage, manager, agents, managers, promoters or organizers cared enough for Axel.

Buzbee presented a lengthy list of allegations and lawsuits against Live Nation. He also detailed Scott’s criminal history and insisted that Scott was known for staging unsafe shows.

The family of Rudy Peña, a 23-year-old medical assistant and criminal justice major from Laredo, have also hired legal representatives and intend to sue.

‘What happened this past weekend is a direct result of what happens when the pursuit of financial gain and fame take precedence over protecting the lives of the innocent,’ said Almaraz Law Firm, representing the Peñas, in a statement.

It is an ode to live events’ current condition and greed in the industry.

“Nobody should be afraid to enjoy something that they love,” and this unfortunately is what happened.

‘We vow to work diligently and responsibly to bring justice to the Peña family and to all afflicted, and we will not rest until these voices have been heard loud and clear.

“We will hold those responsible accountable, and we will fight for something good out of this terrible disaster. There must be a change. Something will shift.

Other attendees and their lawyers, including high-profile civil rights lawyer Ben Crump – who is representing injured concertgoer Noah Gutierrez, 21 – said that the tragedy was ‘years in the making’ because of a history of injuries reported at Scott’s performances, including three hospitalizations at the same event in 2019.

In addition, the lawsuits allege Scott continued to sing for longer than 30 minutes in spite of numerous injuries and deaths.

Crump released a statement saying that they are receiving horrifying reports of terror and helplessness, horror from a large crowd, and the horrible trauma of seeing people die as we try to save them.

More than 10,000 people have signed a petition attempting to block the rapper from performing as a headliners at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California next April.

Crump set up a designated website for anyone else traumatized by the experience to reach out for legal assistance, which could be found at astroworldclaimshelp.com.

He added that ‘We will pursue justice for all of our clients who were injured in this tragic, preventable event’.

A number of injury lawyers, including famed civil rights attorney Ben Crump, are claiming that Scott, Live Nation and other parties behind the festival failed to provide the necessary security measures to prevent the stampede

A tweet captioned “Crowd shouting “stop the show” and waving hands at the sky to protest the Astroworld festival!” Contact anyone you know who has been affected by the horrifying event immediately.

Another said, “WOW. A young girl climbed a ladder to beg staff to stop the Astroworld fest & help attendees with what we now know were DOZENS of medical emergencies & deaths! This is a terrible tragedy that has left many people in pain.

Scott, who is not only facing disapproval from his peers, is being sued by Crump.

On Monday, over 10,000 had signed a Change.org petition to block the rapper from performing at Coachella.

The Coachella organizers AEG and Paul Tollet were targeted by the petition. Scott’s negligence and the Astroworld tragedy are the reasons the petition was sent.

A nine-year old boy, who had been sitting on his father’s shoulder at Astroworld festival, is currently in an medically induced stupor after being seriously injured by the fatal crowd surge.

The father of a nine-year old boy dropped him as he was holding him over the crowd at Friday’s Astroworld Festival. Now, the boy is in an artificial coma that has severe damage to his brain, heart, and lungs.

Ezra Blount, one of the many concertgoers who were injured in the stampede at Travis Scott’s show, was also hospitalized.

Treston, the boy’s father drove him from Dallas to visit one of his favourite artists. The father-son outing turned quickly into a disaster.

'Due to his severe injuries which are swelling in the back of brain damage and trauma to nearly all organs we are certain that he was trampled and is still in induced coma,' Treston Blount (left) wrote on a GoFundMe initiative for his son Ezra (right), which has raised nearly $7,000 in just 3 hours

Treston Blount wrote that his injuries, which include swelling from brain damage and trauma almost all of the organs, made it certain that Ezra was injured and remains in an induced coma. He created a GoFundMe campaign for Ezra’s son and raised over $7,000 within 3 hours.

Treston stated that Treston passed out holding Ezra’s hand so that it wouldn’t crush him. He found out that his son was admitted as a John Doe to an area hospital when he arrived at the tent’s medical tent.

Treston shared his thoughts on Treston’s GoFundMe campaign for his son. The initiative raised more than $7,000 in three hours.

“With Travis Scott’s tragic and unavoidable death at Astroworld’s concert, due to Scott’s own gross negligence as well as lack of compassion for others, we request that AEG and Paul Tollet remove him from all their festivals,” the petition says.

Scott should also be removed from Saturday’s Day N Vegas Festival, as per the petition.

Festival organizers did not respond to the petition.

As GoFundMe was launching GoFundMe pages to help the families’ children, organizers began redirecting well-wishers directly to their official website.

Not all of the families have set up pages, but the site linked to three pages representing the families of Brianna Rodriguez, 16, plus the Acostas and Peñas.

Live Nation Entertainment Inc. is the promoter of the event. It said Monday that it continues to support local authorities and help them in their investigation. This will ensure both fans and families get the information they need and deserves.

Scoremore Shows was the promoter of the concert. Monday’s statement by Live Nation and its employees stated that investigators had visited them and provided footage from all their CCTV cameras. They also paused any equipment takedowns to preserve the integrity of the venue.

Scott was born in Houston and founded the festival following his 2018 chart-topping Astroworld album. Since then, he has stated that he will pay for eight funeral costs and will refund tickets.

“Travis is in ongoing conversations with Houston law enforcement and local emergency responders to respectfully and appropriately connect the families and individuals involved,” his team announced in a statement.

“These are just a few of the many steps Travis intends to take as part of his personal pledge to help those who have been affected during their grief and recovery.

Variety sources said that while he was scheduled to appear at another festival on Saturday, Variety told him that he’s too distraught to participate.

He was scheduled to make a major appearance at the Day N Vegas Festival, which is a general admission event that features several artists. Fans rush to get in on a first come, first serve basis.

Scott was set to take the Frank Stage from 10.45 p.m. until 11.45 p.m. after performances by Lil Baby, Doja Cat, and Doja Cat.

Scott invited Drake to speak on Monday about his grief.

On Instagram, he said that he had spent several days trying to comprehend this terrible tragedy.

“I don’t like using this platform for expressing emotions as sensitive as grief, but that is exactly where I am at the moment.”

“My heart goes out to the loved ones of all those who have lost their lives, and everyone who suffers.

He promised to pray for them and to be of service any way he could.

Scott’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner was at the festival. Kylie stated that Scott and Scott had no idea what was happening during the performances. On Friday, she was criticized for posting footage that clearly displayed a group of paramedics pushing their way through crowd.

Basil Mirza Baig announced Saturday on Facebook that Danish Baig had died at Astroworld.

Baig stated that his brother died in the horrendous incident, which was poorly managed and was supervised by so many horrible people.

“People were tromped on, walked and stomped upon.” My brother saved my sister in law from all the terrible acts that were happening to her. In the end, he died.

Baig described Danish to be a wonderful soul, who puts everyone first.

“Last Night he did a brave act of saving my sister-in law from these horrendous acts.” He added that he was in complete trauma and lost of words from the event.

‘I was there but couldn’t save my brothers. The people were pushing, pushing, and shoveling and didn’t care about anyone’s safety.

Baig also claimed that the rapper provoked chaos by calling for people to “jump into the crowd” and ‘not stopping’ the show.

Baig stated that he was not going to let this be the end. Baig stated, “My family and me will go to every extent possible to bring him to justice.”
