Iran claimed that it foiled an attempt of the United States to’steal’ the oil of the Islamic Republic in the Sea of Oman.
According to Iran’s state media, the U.S. used warships and helicopters to try and block an Iranian oil tanker.
The naval forces of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were able to thwart the U.S.’s attempt to take over the vessel and moved the tanker to Iranian territorial water, Iran’s Press TV said on Wednesday.
Iran’s Mehr new agency said the incident relates to a confrontation between speedboats of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and an American ship which left the scene. It stated that footage would soon be broadcast.
Mehr described the incident as’recent’, while neither Mehr nor state TV confirmed that it had occurred.
Reached for comment, the U.S Navy’s Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet stated that it had received reports about the incident but had not yet been able to provide any information.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards naval forces were able to stop the U.S. attempt to seize the vessel and moved it to Iranian territory water, Iran’s Press TV reported on Wednesday (file photo).
Iran has repeatedly warned America about its military activities within the Gulf. It stated that the Guards naval forces have increased patrols in order to secure passage of Iranian ships as well as combat fuel smuggling.
This development comes as Iran’s Supreme National Security Council head said Wednesday that negotiations to revive its 2015 nuclear agreement will fail unless US President Joe Biden can assure that Washington will not abandon the pact.
“The U.S. President lacks authority and is not ready to provide guarantees. Ali Shamkhani tweeted that if the status quo continues, then the outcome of negotiations is clear.
According to Ali Bagheri-Kani, Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Iran will give an exact date for the resumption talks with the powers. It is scheduled for the end of November.
But on Sunday, Biden said that Iran will pay ‘economically’ if they do not resume negotiations on the nuclear deal.
The comments of the president came after Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State, stated Sunday morning that America. The US doesn’t rule out military action against Iran if they refuse to negotiate on nuclear issues.
In April, Iran, six powers, and the United States, began talks in Vienna to restore the deal. This was three years after President Donald Trump abandoned it. Then-U.S. imposed sanctions that have crippled Iran’s economy. The talks were halted after Iran’s June presidential election, which brought Ebrahim Rashi, an anti-Western radical, to power.

Vienna was divided on Iran’s demand for the United States to guarantee that it would not abandon the nuclear agreement in the future.
The United States and European countries have urged Iran not to abandon negotiations. They warned that Iran’s uranium enrichment program is moving well beyond the limits of the nuclear pact.
Iran broke the agreement after Trump imposed sanctions. It rebuilt its stockpiles with enriched uranium and refining it to a higher fisile quality.
