The cheese advent calendar that caused a worldwide frenzy five years ago when it was launched is back in 2021 with a new flavour.

The calendar contains 24 individually wrapped pieces of delicious cheese, all housed in a fully recyclable, fridge friendly cardboard calendar.

The Cheese Calendar has been a hit for the holiday season.

More than 700,000 Cheese Advent Calendars were sold worldwide since its 2016 debut. It has also been a top seller in Amazon’s Top 10 Christmas Calendars.

Annem wrote on Instagram, “So here it comes! The Cheese Advent Calendar will be available in 16 countries starting in November!

It feels strange to type that – especially considering that I originally created the idea as a cardboard prototype and sat in my pajamas in 2015! I still pinch myself.

What cheeses will be on the calendar in 2021?

*NEW FOR 2021* Ilchester Cheddar with Apple, Onion and Sage – A versatile and uniquely flavored British Cheddar, carefully blended for a well-rounded deliciously sweet Apple flavor, with scrumptious savory notes from the onion and aromatic sage. This goes well with turkey or cranberry sauce.

Applewood – A real English treasure, Applewood is made in the West Country from British cheddar and has a delicate smoky flavor and a lovely smooth texture, with a sprinkling of paprika for good measure.

Applewood Vintage PDO Aged 12 Months – This delicious cheese is made from traditional hand-turned British Farmhouse Cheddar. It has a subtle, smoky taste and melts in your mouth. It is a creamy yellow color with a sprinkle of paprika.

Ilchester Mature Cheddar – Ilchester’s Cheddar is made in the West Country, close to where Cheddar originated in the Mendip Hills. Take a bite, and let the creamy creaminess melt in your mouth with its earthy tangy flavors.

Ilchester Vintage PDO Cheddar – Carefully matured, this cheddar is made in the West Country near the Mendip Hills. Due to the maturing process, this cheddar has a different texture to standard cheddar. You may be able to discover calcium crystals that add crunch.

Ilchester Double Gloucester – This is a hard cheese with a savory, mellow flavor. You may know it as the famous cheese that is rolled down Coopers Hill annually in May for the UK’s most extreme cheese rolling race!

Ilchester Red Leicester – Smooth and nutty! This traditional English cheese is based on a Cheddar recipe and adds a splash of color.

Ilchester Aged red Leicester – This traditional English cheese has been carefully matured for a minimum of 9 months giving it a distinguishable smooth, tangy and nutty taste.

Mexicana – This cheese combines a fiery mix of bell, jalapeño and chilli peppers, carefully blended with British Cheddar and a secret mix of Mexican spices.

“It has come quite a ways since then and I could not be more grateful to this wonderful, cheesy community.

“The new version will include nine delicious cheeses, with something for everyone.

Annem published a blog in 2016 describing how anyone can make a cheese advent Calendar at home.

After trending for more than 2 days on Facebook and receiving celebrity support from Zooey deschanel and Emma Bunton respectively, over 11,000 people signed-up to support the campaign in just 4 days.

It was there that the Cheese Calendar became a worldwide phenomenon.

Five years ago, she officially launched the calendar. ASDA announced that it was a bestseller.
